A private shopping checklist

A quick way to review privacy, billing, delivery and returns before you order.

A private shopping plan starts with who can see the ordinary traces of an order, not with the word “discreet” on a homepage.

Map the shared surfaces

Think about inboxes, browser profiles, delivery alerts, calendar reminders and household storage. A shared device may sync history and passwords to another device. Disable unnecessary notifications through the relevant settings rather than relying on private browsing alone. Make sure your own account access is secure.

Ask the retailer four practical questions

What sender name is used? What appears on the card statement? Can I collect the parcel elsewhere? What happens if I need to return it? Keep those answers separate from the retailer’s general privacy policy, which describes a different part of the process.

Minimize information, not honesty

Provide what is needed for delivery and payment, but avoid optional profiles or intimate details in customer support. If an app is involved, review permissions before pairing it. Do not send a health history to a seller just to get a size recommendation. Ask a clinician when health context is necessary.

A note on safety

No retailer can guarantee complete anonymity across delivery, banking and device services.
